Friday's Poem 11.15.13 —
Untitled

Our cocoons are
Opening up
Lots of things
Gifts
Losses
Changes
Like wings unfurling
Strengthened through pressure

Slow cracks
Bits of light and air
Filtering through mucus
Change is wet sometimes
Sticky
Smells funny
Unpretty
Not always for public consumption
Despite being in public view
My scars are
Where the magic is
My joy
Hidden in
Absolutely nothing
Healings
Amputations
Imperfections
Like kisses
“I love your scars baby”
Maturity is
Delicious
Opening up
Breaking
Down
Through
Up
Over
Breathing it in and out
And in and out
Like music
See this now
My own and yours
Ours
Hearts
Beat and blood
Blood and bone
Bone and wing
Wing and sky
Our cocoons are
Opening up
