Laziness is a hurdle
a neverending circle
of time and test and births
now, new, and never
together and apart
setting apart the differences
the needed from the needless
taking heed to redeem this
time
a needle in a haystack of death
fragile like a baby’s first breath
is life
you’ve got to fly
time isn’t dying
it is a plumb line
or is it a dumb line
told at a bar sometime
Cuz I’m feelin some kinda way
About the chances you take
vampirizing my time and space
But then I hear that voice
And all it says is
Grace

And everything stops for a second
And I have to reckon with the lesson
You are trying to teach me
About love
About my neighbor
It’s not my job to be the Savior
And climbing up on my own cross
Makes me look a fool
Not a boss
I’ve got other trash to toss
Feelin’ some kinda way
Family, friends
Broken relationships mend
And then that voice again
Grace
